A study conducted by the Chilean consulting firm, Virtus, in partnership with CESA, Siigo, and Views Business Intelligence on the digital maturity of Colombian SMEs and startups, emphasizes that the Colombian companies are in an initial stage of digital transformation. Although the participants of the study mentioned that the pandemic was fundamental to start the actions, the progress is still precarious.
Part of the problem is the lack of technology developers in the region. Michael Page, a human resources and recruitment consultancy, reports that 48% of IT job vacancies in Latin America cannot be filled due to a lack of professionals. This problem becomes even more critical for SMEs since most digital developers are based in big companies.
On the other hand, PageGroup with Invest in Bogota analyzed the number of graduates in STEM careers in Latin America. The study revealed that in Colombia there are only 34% of graduates in these fields, that is, 135 627 people approximately (3 out of 10 are professionals).
From Imagine Apps we see this situation as an opportunity to provide the entrepreneurs with a quality service that allows them to approach a business model based on digital technology. We do this in three ways: contract with dedicated teams, project development, and staff augmentation.
"The service of dedicated teams is focused on organizations that want to develop software, but are still new to this implementation. We work with great flexibility and offer our clients a team according to the requirements of each project. That is why we offer three types of plans that allow us to perform optimally" (Nicolás Rojas, CEO of Imagine Apps).
The development of projects consists of developing digital tools. These can vary between applications developed in Flutter, web platforms, etc. Unlike dedicated teams, this type of project is usually of short duration and does not require any type of ongoing consulting after the work is completed.
Staff Augmentation is an outsourcing strategy that aims to hire qualified personnel in software development. The advantage of this strategy for our clients is the elimination of administrative tasks and all the financial obligations that a company has concerning its collaborators. In other words, Imagine Apps assumes all the risk of hiring talent, but the talent is managed directly by the client.
Part of the quality we provide to our customers comes from our employees, who are continuously motivated to offer the best possible service. Our benefits are adjusted to the needs and requirements of the sector, but at the same time seek to promote the professional growth of our employees.
On the other hand, no one is forced to go to the office, which is why our imaginers have the opportunity to work wherever they feel most comfortable. Likewise, the culture of digital nomadism within the organization is a concept that we constantly promote. Thanks to this work model, we have collaborators in different countries such as Peru, Canada, and Mexico, thus reinforcing our vision for the pursuit of Latin American growth.
Over the years, Imagine Apps has positioned itself as one of the companies with the greatest impact in the technology sector. The possibility of working with organizations from different sectors in countries such as Colombia, Mexico, and the United States, has allowed the organization to be part of the digital growth of MSMEs in the region.
